What We Do For You
Pogenon Books LLC is a small, independent press, not a large, full-service publisher that also provides marketing and advertising services. We make it possible for writers, especially new writers, to publish in a traditional way without any stigma associated with self-publishing or the expense of hybrid publishers. We think it is a mistake to downplay self-publishing, but it is an unfortunate reality that many other publishers and readers still regard that avenue as an easy (we know it’s not!) and unprofessional way to publish your books. With Pogenon Books, you do not have that stigma.
Hybrid publishers can be tricky to navigate. There are expenses to manage for new authors, and the options seem endless. We do not offer hybrid “plans” for publishing your book or various marketing packages to choose from. If your manuscript is accepted for publication, you can proceed with full confidence that you have been selected by a traditional publisher, though we are a small press and do not have a marketing or advertising branch. As such, we do not provide advances on sales, signing bonuses, or any other up-front compensation. Instead, we offer a contract of shared royalties in which you retain 95% of all net royalties from sales. For more details, see our Sales and Royalties page.
Standard Contract
If your manuscript is accepted for publication (see our Submission Information and Content Guidelines), we will send you a publication contract. It is a legal, binding agreement between you as the author and us as the publisher. It is a thorough agreement based on the “Model Trade Book Contract” provided through The Authors Guild. (We highly recommend that authors join The Authors Guild and make use of the many resources available through them.) All rights and responsibilities for both publisher and author are detailed in the agreement, including the editing process and royalties.
Print Books and eBooks
Pogenon Books makes use of automation as much as possible to produce high-quality printed books as well as eBooks. We list your book on platforms such as Amazon’s KDP services and IngramSpark. As such, your book is exposed to the world’s largest audiences, from readers directly to bookstores, libraries, and other significant outlets. Through companies like IngramSpark, your book is not only exposed to many sales avenues, it is promoted by them.
Once your book is listed on these (and any other appropriate platforms), we send you links and details about how your book can be accessed. It is then up to you to decide how you’d like to expand your marketing efforts. There are many, many options available for writers to choose from. We are happy to give advice and provide some general guidelines, but it is up to you to decide how best to manage marketing and sales.
Our books will be published in all English-language territories – notably the US, Canada, UK and Australia. It is our goal to bring all our books to eBook and print formats. If your book gains sufficient attention (sales and reviews), we will consider an audiobook release.
